Kosovo’s Serbian churches to get police protection

The government of Kosovo will form a special police force to protect Serbian Orthodox churches and monasteries.

The personnel will consist of Kosovo Albanians and Kosovo Serbs.

The announcements were made in Pristina Friday shortly after Serbian Prime Minister Ivica Dacic and his Kosovo counterpart Hashim Thaci wound up a round of talks in Brussels.

Two of Kosovo’s monasteries are on UNESCO’s world heritage list. They are protected by soldiers of the international security force in Kosovo.
